The Moon Sign

When someone asks you what sign you are they are really just asking what your Sun Sign is. This has to do with where the Sun is on the date of your birth. But there are a lot of other things in your birth chart that are just as interesting. The Moon was also in a sign at your date and time of birth. The Moon has to do with your inner nature, as opposed to your Sun Sign, which has to do with your conscious sense of self and basic energy drive. Let’s not underestimate the significance of the Sun Sign. It is the cornerstone of your chart. But the Moon can open many interesting doors to the inner dimensions of your psyche and is worth investigating.

What does your Moon Sign say about you?

The Moon Sign indicates a person’s emotional side. It is unconscious, instinctive, habitual, and receptive. The Moon has a lot to do with what makes you tick. The Moon Sign determines your emotional response to the outer world and other people. The Moon is your “vibe”. It is something other people sense about you, but perhaps don’t see on the surface. The Moon changes signs every 2 ½ days or so and if you haven’t ever had your chart done you will have to have an astrologer do one for you to get the definitive answer about what you Moon Sign is.

Instincts and habits: The Moon influences our instincts and habits. These are things you do that are autopilot; you don’t have to think about it, you just do it. For a Leo Moon person it might be letting loose and playing with kids. For a Cancer Moon person it might be cooking.

Needs: The Moon Sign can also let you know where you go to get your needs met. It can represent a deep inner place that you need to be fed. For an Aries Moon person it might be through adventure or challenge. For a Taurus Moon Person it could be sensual comfort.

Fears and phobias: The Moon Sign can also reveal unconscious fear or phobias. For a Virgo Moon person it might mean a fear of germs or illness. For a Gemini Moon person it might mean a fear of appearing stupid or uninformed.

Intimacy: The Moon Sign will indicate how you approach others on an emotional level and what your style of intimacy is. A Pisces Moon person will tend to be empathetic, caring, and accommodating. A Capricorn Moon person will tend to be cautious, serious, and responsible where love is concerned.

Where you live: Your Moon Sign can shed light on what kind of home you create. A Libra Moon person might be a natural interior designer, looking to create art and beauty all around them. A Scorpio Moon person wants security, a refuge, and privacy, which would be reflected in their domain.

Your inner mother: The Moon represents the type of mother you grew up with and what kind of mother or nurturer you have become. A Scorpio Moon may have had a powerful, dominant, and even controlling mom. An Aquarius Moon probably had an intellectual, individualistic mom who could have been a little emotionally detached.

Your inner child: Your Moon Sign definitely reflects your inner child. A Capricorn Moon might be a serious, scholarly, introverted kid that needs more friends. A Sagittarius Moon is a kid who thrives on competition, sports, and exploration.

Your inner Mystic: Your Moon Sign indicates areas where your Soul can really shine. For a Pisces Moon it could be art or social work, for a Virgo Moon is could be helping and healing others.

The Moon Through the Signs:

Aries: The Moon is a watery planet and is a bit uncomfortable in fire signs, particularly Aries, ruled by Mars, the god of war.
